You see, you will have to be referred by someone to buy products from Scentsy and this is based on a consultant business model similar to Mary Kay. You can't just go down to MaryKay.com and start buying products. You have to know someone. This keeps the product personalized and you always have someone to go to to ask questions about the products. This model is used whenever a product manufacturer is smart and sees a vision well beyond the immediate and quick sale of their products. They tie their products to an emotion, and that's what Brand building is all about. This is a long-term plan that goes well beyond a simple 'sale.'
I think this practice is really inconvenient for some consumers (a very small %) but more importantly shows a lot of respect to the consultants who sell their Scentsy products.
